“Caste is a form of social stratification (Social stratification is a society's categorization of people into socioeconomic strata, based upon their occupation , income, wealth and social status, or derived power (social and political).) characterized by endogamy, 

(Endogamy is the practice of marrying within a specific ethnic group, class, or social group, rejecting others on such a basis as being unsuitable for marriage or for other close personal relationships.) hereditary transmission of a lifestyle which often includes an occupation, status in a hierarchy, and customary social interaction and exclusion. 
अर्थात जाति में पेशा रहन सहन

 समाज में शक्ति के आधार पर स्तरीय जीवन वैवाहिक संबंध -----------

पीढ़ीदर  पीढ़ी प्राप्त परंपराएं उनका अनुपालन कुछ लोगों तक सीमित 

रखने की प्रथा -----------

बाहर करने की प्रथा 

यही सामाजिक जीवन को निर्धारित करने के मानक दिए गए हैं
